The Compagnie Fruitiere created Golden Exotics Ltd (GEL) in 2003. GEL operates two plantations that, together, cover 3,500 hectares.

One is devoted to pineapples, harvesting 14,000 tons per year. The other, further north, concentrates on bananas. In two years, it doubled production to 35,000 tons, thus expanding the availability of Ghanaian fruit on the European market.

This growth will continue as the land under cultivation expands beyond the current 1,200 hectares. GEL’s workforce totals almost 2,000.
