Senegal
The Grands Domaines du Senegal (GDS) was created in 2003 by the Compagnie Fruitiere and is the country’s first market-gardening company to be implemented in the country. It is located in the Saint Louis region, along the Senegal River, and occupies about 80-hectare of greenhouses. Ten thousand tons of tomatoes (cherry, cocktail and olivette varieties) are harvested each year.
A cold packaging plant with electronic calibration ensures that these tomatoes reach the market in the best possible condition. They are sold under the “Doona” label outside the European production season.
GDS also grows more than 120 hectares of sweet corn in open fields for the British market.
GDS is Globalgap®-certified.
